Know what is alimony Alimony is called alimony. This means that when the husband and wife get divorced or separated, one has to give financial help to the other. The court takes into account many things before giving alimony, such as the financial condition of both, how was their life during marriage, how long the marriage lasted and what is the arrangement for the care of the children.
Even if the wife is working, she can still get alimony, especially when there is a huge difference in the income of the husband and wife. But if the court feels that the wife can manage her life on her own and does not need financial help, it can also refuse alimony.
