Impact of dense fog: Over 105 flights cancelled, over 450 delayed at Delhi airport; passengers distressed

admin - December 22, 2025

Dense fog severely disrupted air services in Delhi on Sunday.

Poor visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport led to the cancellation of over 105 flights and delays of over 450.

Dense fog severely disrupted air traffic in the national capital, Delhi, on Sunday. Poor visibility led to the cancellation of over 105 flights and delays of over 450 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to airport officials, 55 incoming and 52 outgoing flights were cancelled on Sunday. According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, the average delay was 36 minutes.

Officials stated that the dense fog prevented pilots from seeing the runway clearly, disrupting flight operations. Passengers were also affected, with many having to wait for long periods at the airport. However, DIAL, the company that operates Delhi Airport, posted on the social media platform X on Sunday evening that flight operations at the airport were running normally.

Dense Fog Impacts Nationwide

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is the country’s largest airport, handling approximately 1,300 flights daily. For the past several days, dense fog has been affecting flight services not only in Delhi but also at other airports across the country.
