Following these attacks, global oil prices witnessed a sharp surge, and Trump expressed his displeasure regarding the situation.However, on his social media platform, ‘Truth Social,’ Trump once again issued a threat to Iran. Trump also asserted that he had no prior knowledge of Israel’s plans for the attack.

Let us examine what the language employed by US President Trump reveals about the potential trajectory of this conflict. We will also attempt to ascertain the extent to which the US and Israel are aligned regarding the strategy and objectives of this military campaign.

The US ‘Knew Nothing’ About These Attacks

President Trump claims that the US “knew nothing about this specific attack” by Israel.Trump’s statement stands in stark contrast to reports published by several Israeli newspapers in the aftermath of the attack.

According to a report by the centrist newspaper *Yedioth Ahronoth*, the attack was “discussed in advance with the US, and a consensus was reached between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump.”Conversely, the right-wing newspaper *Israel Hayom* reported that “President Trump discussed the planned Israeli attack on the Iranian coastal city of Assaluyeh with the leaders of three Persian Gulf nations late last week.”

As is often the case with President Trump’s assertions, it remains difficult to determine the absolute truth of the matter in this instance. The words Trump used to describe the Israeli attack also offer some indications.

He states, “Israel launched a deadly attack on the gas field in a fit of anger.”

This is the kind of language often used to characterize some of Iran’s aggressive retaliatory strikes.Trump does not typically employ such language to describe a calculated military operation undertaken by a close ally.
