Mithun Chakraborty has dismissed claims labeling Ranveer Singh’s *Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge* as a propaganda film. Mithun noted that his own film, The Bengal Files, was blocked from being released in Bengal. He questioned: if Dhurandhar 2 is now being labeled as propaganda, why wasn’t it stopped? Before Mithun, several artists and filmmakers—including Anupam Kher—had already delivered a sharp retort to those accusing Dhurandhar: The Revenge of being propaganda.
Mithun Chakraborty praised Dhurandhar 2.
Mumbai: Mithun Chakraborty has categorically rejected allegations that Ranveer Singh’s film, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, is a propaganda film. In a recent interview, he compared Aditya Dhar’s film to his own movie, The Bengal Files, recalling that his film was not even permitted to be released in certain parts of the country. Mithun stated, “You did not allow Bengal Files to be released in West Bengal. What could be a more significant issue than that? Yet, you are now calling Dhurandhar 2 propaganda. In that case, why didn’t you stop Dhurandhar 2?”
Mithun Chakraborty further added, “It (*Dhurandhar 2*) was released, and now you are labeling it as propaganda. However, you didn’t even watch a single reel of *Bengal Files*. You opposed it right from the start and prevented the film from being released in Bengal. What could be more unfortunate than that?”
Which film’s ‘propaganda’ allegations did Mithun Chakraborty refute?
Earlier, Heerav Mehta—who played the character of a member of the Baloch gang in Dhurandhar 2—had also voiced his opinion regarding these allegations. He said, “This is the first time anyone has managed to make such a raw film. Aditya Dhar Sir showed the public the reality—what happened, how it happened, and why it happened. I will give an example: I am receiving a lot of love for my role. If there is 95 percent love, there is also 5 percent hate. But that’s alright, because that very 5 percent motivates me to work even harder.”
Anupam Kher Also Supports ‘Dhurandhar 2’
Speaking at the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026, Anupam Kher stated that the people going to theaters to watch ‘Dhurandhar 2’ are not fools. According to ANI, Anupam Kher said, “I feel that we should ignore those who are labeling cinema as propaganda. We are expending far too much energy on them. They have become irrelevant now. We should celebrate the success of films like ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Dhurandhar.’ People are not fools. They wouldn’t go to watch a housefull show at 12:00 PM unless they genuinely liked the film. People go to watch movies because they enjoy them. I believe that those who are calling this propaganda should just let it go now.”
