On the evening of 27 February, he breathed his last in a hospital in Delhi during treatment. Mohanty’s nephew has also confirmed his death.
People were shocked by the sudden departure of the actor, and fans paid tribute to him on social media. According to the report of news agency ANI, his family has informed that the 66-year-old actor was brought to Delhi from Bhubaneswar on February 8. He was battling a serious liver-related disease for a long time.
CM Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief

In this, he wrote, ‘The death of Odisha’s famous actor Uttam Mohanty is very sad. The biggest loss of his departure is to the Odia film industry. However, his contribution will live in the hearts of the people forever. I pray for the peace of his soul and also express my deepest condolences to the family.’
The actor will be cremated with state honors
The Chief Minister of Odisha has also announced that Uttam Mohanty’s last rites will be performed with state honors. Fans of the actor are not able to believe the information about his death. Some people are also expressing surprise on social media.
Talking about the film journey of veteran actor Uttam Mohanty, he started his career in the year 1977 with the Odia film Abhimaan. He has done praiseworthy work in excellent movies like Nijhum Ratir Sathi (1979), Phula Chandana (1982), and Danda Balunga (1984).
