Priyadarshan is the lone Malayali director in Bollywood with the maximum number of hits to his credit. Having been away for three years, the industry expects a hit when he returns. 

This time around, Akshay Kumar takes the lead in Priyan’s film. He’s had several hits with Priyadarshan before. Now, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are working together again after 14 years. Bhoot Bangla is a movie that mixes horror and comedy. But the uniqueness of the star cast in the film does not end there. Tabu plays another important character in the film. Now, the Bollywood star has shared her joy of joining the film.

Tabu shared a picture of a clapboard from the location on Instagram. Tabu captioned the picture “We are trapped here.” This line indicates the horror nature of the film. Tabu is acting in a Priyadarshan film after 25 years. The last film they worked together was Snehitiye (the Tamil version of Rakhilipattu, which was released in Malayalam and Hindi versions seven years later) in 2000.

The film is currently being shot at Chomu Palace in Jaipur, the same location where Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar shot Bhool Bhulayya. Chomu Palace appears in the film as a bungalow with some supernatural powers in Bhoot Bangla.

60 percent of the scenes in the film are shot here. That is why all the main stars of the film are participating in the shooting here. The shooting here will last for more than a month. Apart from Jaipur, Mumbai and London are the locations of the film. Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, and others have portrayed various characters. The film is set to release in theatres in April 2026.

KVN Productions, known for backing two of South India’s most anticipated films—Toxic and Thalapathy 69—are set to make their Bollywood debut in collaboration with Thespian Films. This new venture will be helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan.

Toxic marks Yash’s return to the big screen following the massive success of the KGF series, while Thalapathy 69 will be the swan song for Tamil cinema’s megastar. Both films are on track for a 2025 release, generating significant buzz. In a major development, KVN Productions is stepping into the Hindi film industry alongside Thespian Films, with plans to start production on their first Hindi feature soon.

According to insiders, KVN Productions, led by prominent industrialist Venkat Narayana, and Thespian Films, spearheaded by Shailaja Desai Fenn, have teamed up to produce this highly anticipated Hindi film under Priyadarshan’s direction. Though details are being kept tightly under wraps, sources suggest that the project is ready to commence filming soon. An official announcement is expected in the near future, and the film is anticipated to go on floors later this year.
“This project is special, and everything has come together perfectly to kickstart the production,” said the source.

For those who are not aware, Priyadarshan recently said that he and Akshay Kumar will be working together again on the unique horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, which is scheduled to go into production in early 2025 and be released in late 2025. On the occasion of his 57th birthday, September 9, 2024, Akshay Kumar surprised his fans with a special gift – the announcement of his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, directed by none other than Priyadarshan. The film marks their reunion after 14 years, and the actor couldn’t be more thrilled.

Taking to Instagram, Akshay shared the intriguing first look of Bhooth Bangla. The teaser opens with a shot of the moon and a black cat’s tail, setting a spooky tone. Akshay, dressed in a blue suit with a red tie and pocket square, is seen standing in front of a haunted house with a quirky expression as he drinks milk from a bowl while a black cat rests on his shoulder. The film’s title, Bhooth Bangla, is revealed in golden and red letters, with eerie laughter in the background, adding to the spooky vibe. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is slated for a 2025 release.

Fans couldn’t contain their excitement over the announcement, flooding the comments section with birthday wishes and expressing their enthusiasm about the actor-director duo reuniting. “The magical duo is back after 14 years!” exclaimed one fan. Ak X Priyadarshan,” while another wrote, “Happy Birthday Akshay Sir, can’t wait to watch #BhoothBangla.” Many shared their excitement with heart and fire emojis.

A couple of days earlier, on Ganesh Chaturthi, Akshay had teased his followers about the announcement. He posted a cryptic video featuring a metallic evil face with glowing red eyes, hinting at the film’s horror-comedy theme. In his caption, he said, “Ganpati Bappa Morya! What better day than today to give you a hint of something special? The big reveal is on my birthday!”

Bhooth Bangla is presented by Balaji Telefilms Ltd. in association with Cape of Good Films. The film is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R. Kapoor, with Faara Sheikh and Vedant Vikaas Bali serving as co-producers.

In the meantime, Akshay was recently seen in the comedy-drama Khel Khel Mein and made a cameo appearance in Stree 2. He also has a busy lineup ahead, including Singham Again, Sky Force, Jolly LLB 3, Welcome To The Jungle, and more.
