In an interview with TellyChakkar, Rupali addressed the buzz and dismissed the so-called “rivalry” between the two iconic shows. She called Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi a symbol of pure nostalgia and said she was proud to have the show returning to their network.
“I don’t understand why there are comparisons between Anupamaa and Kyunki. That show is a legacy, and all of us should celebrate its return,” Rupali shared. She emphasized that instead of pitting two powerful women-led shows against each other, viewers should appreciate the variety and evolution of Indian television.
Ekta Kapoor Also Responds
The debate first flared up when producer Ekta Kapoor responded to an Instagram post that hinted at a rivalry between the shows. Ekta supported Rupali and the Anupamaa team in an interview with Brut India. “In her own right, she [Rupali] is a celebrity. Anupamaa has achieved what no show has done in recent years,” said Ekta, praising the show’s creator Rajan Shahi. She also called out the constant habit of comparing women and said such discussions are unproductive.
“It’s always women being pitted against women, and frankly, it’s unnecessary,” she added.
