The Dhoom franchise is gearing up for its most ambitious chapter yet. Industry insiders have confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will headline Dhoom 4, stepping into a role that promises to redefine action in Indian cinema. Known for reinventing himself with each project, Kapoor is reportedly preparing for a never-seen-before avatar in this reboot of Yash Raj Films’ blockbuster franchise.
Aditya Chopra & Sridhar Raghavan Collaborate on the Script
Backed by Aditya Chopra, the creative force behind the franchise, Dhoom 4 is currently in the scripting phase. Chopra has teamed up with screenwriter Sridhar Raghavan, best known for his work in high-stakes thrillers, to develop a story that reimagines the franchise while retaining its core DNA of speed, style, and suspense. Sources say the duo is crafting a world-class action spectacle that matches global standards, with a storyline that will kick off a brand-new arc in the Dhoom universe.
Ranbir’s Role: A Perfect Fit
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film’s lead character has been designed to align perfectly with Ranbir Kapoor’s personality and on-screen versatility. Unlike previous Dhoom films, which focused more on heist-centric plots, this installment is said to have deeper, character-driven arcs blended with slick, modern action. Kapoor’s look in the film is being kept under wraps, but insiders reveal it will be a complete transformation from any of his past roles.
A New Identity for the Franchise
Interestingly, Dhoom 4 will enormously veer away from YRF’s existing Spy Universe, which consists of Pathaan, War, and Tiger 3. The plan is to conceptualize and develop this project as a separate, standalone action universe with its own visual and thematic identity. Production is expected to kick off in Summer 2026, with large-scale action set pieces already being discussed.
Along the fans, so Ranbir In; But What About Hrithik?
With this announcement, social media has become a hotbed of excitement. While many fans are hyped to see Ranbir take up the role of a high-octane action hero, others want Hrithik Roshan to come back because his Aryan in Dhoom 2 remains one of their favorite performances. Whether he will be appearing as a cameo or will reprise his role is yet to be decided, but the casting trash talk will only add fuel to the hype.
The Legacy of Dhoom
The Dhoom franchise has been one of the most successful in Bollywood. The first installment introduced high-speed bike chases and stylized villains, featuring John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra. Dhoom 2 (2006) took things to the next level, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, while Dhoom 3 (2013) saw Aamir Khan in a double role opposite Katrina Kaif.
What Else is in Store for Ranbir Kapoor?
The calendar of Ranbir Kapoor is filled with big-ticket ventures. Presently, he is shooting for the epic Ramayan, in the role of Lord Ram and under the helm of Nitesh Tiwari. He will also return to the screen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park, the sequel to Animal, with insane fan expectations.
Besides this, the other forthcoming projects include Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, also starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, and the highly anticipated Brahmastra: Part 2 – Dev.
