Director Raj Shandilya said on the casting of Dream Girl 2: This film was not a sequel but a franchise, so Ananya was cast in place of Nusrat
Dream Girl 2 director Raj Shandilya discussed the casting of the film in an interview. He stated that this film was created as a franchise sequel rather than a sequel to itself. If there were a sequel, I would have cast Nusrat. Nusrat recently expressed her disappointment at not being a part of Dream Girl 2.
In an interview with The Times of India, filmmaker Raj Shandilya stated that Dream Girl 2 was not a straight sequel, but rather a sequel to the franchise. If there were a sequel, I would have cast Nusrat. But since this was a franchise film, I had to cast a new lead lady.
Raaj Shandilya further told that the story of Dream Girl was completed with the characters of Ayushmann and Nusrat. The second part was made to depict a new story, which needed a new female lead. However, some important characters like Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, and Vijay Raj were retained in the film.
Raj also said that he had already talked to Nusrat about this decision and explained the same reason to her. In such a situation, there is no reason for her to be disappointed. If Raj Shandilya is to be believed, then a new actress will be cast in it too, and Ananya Panday will also not be a part of that film.
Raj also called Nusrat his good friend. He added that he is now producing a new film and has approached Nusrat about a role in it. He also expressed hope that he would work with Nusrat again soon.
The movie Dream Girl was released in 2019.
Let us tell you that the actress was seen with Ayushmann Khurrana in ‘Dream Girl’. The audience also liked the pairing of both in this film.
