Passport Seva Portal Undergoing Technical Maintenance: Impact on Scheduled Appointments

The Passport Seva official website has announced that appointments already booked for August 30, 2024, will be appropriately rescheduled, and applicants will be notified accordingly. 

“The Passport Seva portal will undergo technical maintenance starting at 8:00 p.m.,” the announcement reads.. IST on August 29, 2024, Thursday, until 6:00 a.m. IST on September 2, Monday. During this maintenance period, the system will be unavailable for citizens and all MEA, RPO, BOI, ISP, DoP, and Police Authorities. Appointments booked for August 30, 2024, will be rescheduled, and applicants will be informed.”

In addition, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has raised concerns about fraudulent websites and mobile applications that are collecting applicant data and charging exorbitant fees for filling out online application forms and scheduling appointments for passports and related services.

“Several fraudulent websites and mobile apps are gathering data from applicants and imposing additional high fees for completing the online application,” the MEA said. application form and scheduling passport-related appointments. Some of these phony websites, such www.online-passportindia.com, www.passport-indiaportal.in, www.passport-india.in, www.passport-seva.in, www.applypassport.org, and others, use domain names like *.org, *.in, and *.com.” 

The ministry advises all citizens applying for Indian passports and related services to avoid visiting the aforementioned fraudulent websites or making any payments through them. www.passportindia.gov.in is the official website of the Indian government’s Ministry of External Affairs, which handles passport services.. Alternatively, applicants can also use the official mobile app, mPassport Seva, which is available for download on both Android and iOS app stores.
