IND vs PAK: Following Pakistan’s defeat against India in the T20 World Cup 2026, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, along with his players, is being criticized, marking the sixth time the Pakistani team has lost to India during his tenure.
The Pakistan cricket team and its board have been a topic of discussion throughout world cricket for their off-field activities. Since Mohsin Naqvi took over as Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, these activities have increased significantly.
The biggest reason for this is PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi himself, who is nothing less than a drama company. Throughout his tenure, he has attempted to achieve everything through mere words, while the Pakistani team’s performance on the field has been comparable to that of an associate nation. During the tenure of PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, whenever the Pakistani team has played against India, he has never tried to stir up trouble. However, this has been the biggest detriment to his team, with the team suffering defeats each time.
Pakistan has played Team India six times during Mohsin’s tenure.
Since Mohsin Naqvi took over as Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, whenever the Pakistani team has lost against India, he has announced major changes to the cricket structure. However, these have not seen any significant impact, with the captain and coaching staff being changed at most, while everything else remains the same.
During Naqvi’s tenure, when Pakistan played India in the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York, the Pakistani team lost by six runs. In this event, the Pakistani team also suffered a defeat against the USA, after which they were eliminated from the group stage.
Mohsin’s drama began with the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Champions Trophy, played in early 2025, and India made it clear that Team India would not travel there to play its matches. Following this, Naqvi tried hard to prevent the tournament matches from being shifted to Dubai, but ultimately had to bow to the ICC and BCCI.
Team India not only played its matches in the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai stadium but also won the trophy. This tournament also featured a match between India and Pakistan, which Team India won by 6 wickets.
He caused a lot of trouble in the Asia Cup, even stole the trophy and fled.
Mohsin Naqvi’s true colors were revealed during the 2025 Asia Cup, where the Indian team adopted a policy of not shaking hands with Pakistani players following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Three matches were played between India and Pakistan, including the final.
When Team India won the first match by 7 wickets, Pakistani players attempted to shake hands, but were completely ignored by Team India. Following this incident, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi was visibly upset, even running to the ICC to demand that Team India be required to shake hands. However, despite his best efforts, he failed to achieve anything. Team India, despite defeating Pakistan by 6 wickets in the Super Four, refused to shake hands with their players.
Team India also faced Pakistan in the final match of the Asia Cup 2025. Even before the Indian team won, it was made clear that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the head of the Asian Cricket Council, would not acceptthe trophy from them.
After Team India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final match, the presentation ceremony began significantly late, and Team India did not receive the trophy because Mohsin Naqvihad fled the field with it.
Bangladesh boycott row in T20 World Cup
In the ICC T20 World Cup, being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the ICC decided to expel Bangladesh from the tournament after Bangladesh decided not to send itsteam to India. The PCB reacted to this ICC decision with a resemblance to Abdullah going crazy at someone else’s wedding.
Pakistan, which has to play all its matches in Sri Lanka, began a boycott campaign against India on February 15th, a move that even the Pakistani government joined in. The Pakistani Prime Minister ordered his team to boycott the match against India.
This move by the PCB was certain that they would make a U-turn on their decision as the match date approached. When the ICC informed them of the fines and various sanctions, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi immediately ordered his team to play the match against India.
However, this did not significantly benefit them, as the Indian team once again defeated Pakistan resoundingly, winning the match by 61 runs.
