Matthew Perry’s Friends Express Heartache Over ‘Enablers’; Recent Arrests in His Case Stir Deep Emotions

According to reports, on August 15, the U.S. Attorney’s Office charged five individuals in connection with Perry’s passing, including two doctors, a woman referred to as the “Ketamine Queen,” an alleged distributor, and Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. In a plea agreement with the Department of Justice, Iwamasa confessed that Perry had asked him to “shoot me up with a big one” just hours before his death. Iwamasa was also the first to discover Perry’s lifeless body and speak to law enforcement.

In a 2022 interview, he mentioned that he had largely been sober since 2001, despite experiencing 60 to 70 relapses over the years. Sadly, the Department of Justice confirmed that Perry had relapsed in the months leading up to his death.
Matthew Perry was especially missed on what would have been his 55th birthday on August 19. On October 28, 2023, the adored actor was discovered face down in his jacuzzi. Medical examiners concluded that the cause of death was the “acute effects of ketamine,” a controlled anesthetic drug.
