Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s extravagant wedding ceremony attracted numerous celebrities from both India and abroad. Among the international guests were reality TV stars Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe Kardashian. Kim shared several pictures from the wedding on her social media, one of which included an idol of Lord Ganesha. This particular photo sparked outrage among her followers, prompting Kim to delete it from her Instagram account.
Kim Kardashian donned a white and golden lehenga choli designed by Manish Malhotra for the occasion. She captioned the photo on Instagram with, “Diamonds and pearls for Ambani wedding.” While many admired her attire, the image of her posing with the idol of Lord Ganesha drew significant criticism. One user commented, “We will not tolerate the insult to Indian culture.”
Another user wrote, “This is highly inappropriate and disrespectful, especially when you do not belong to that culture.” A different post remarked, “Kim is using Lord Ganesha for her frivolous photo ops.” One more user pointed out, “She comes from America and poses like this with the idol of Lord Ganesha. She might not understand its significance, but she should have asked someone before taking this photo.”
Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe were among the guests at the wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai from July 12-14. On Monday, Kim posted pictures from the event on Instagram, including the controversial one with the Lord Ganesha idol. After facing backlash, Kim removed the image without offering any explanation.
