Sports Desk, New Delhi. Vaibhav Suryavanshi Record: India faces the United States in the first match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup. The opening match is being played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. After winning the toss, Indian team captain Ayush Mhatre decided to bowl first.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history as soon as he was included in the playing XI. He thus broke a 16-year-old record. Vaibhav has become the youngest player in the world to represent a country in the history of the Under-19 World Cup.

In fact, at the age of 14 years and 294 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history in Zimbabwe in the opening match of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 against the United States. By stepping on the field, Vaibhav became the youngest player in the world to represent a country in the U19 World Cup. He broke the record held by Canada’s Nitish Kumar, who played a U19 World Cup match for his country in 2010 at the age of 15 years and 245 days.
Vaibhav recently captained the team in a three-match ODI series against the South African Under-19 team, leading the team to a 3-0 victory. In the three-match series, Vaibhav scored 206 runs at an average of 68.66 and a strike rate of 187.27, earning him Player of the Series.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is also eyeing a major record held by Indian legend Virat Kohli. If Suryavanshi scores 6 runs in today’s opening match against the United States, he will surpass Kohli. Vaibhav has a chance to surpass King Kohli on the list of highest run-scorers in youth ODIs. The 14-year-old currently has 973 runs in 18 innings, compared to Kohli’s 978 runs in 25 innings.
