Thalapathy Vijay’s Greatest of All Time is poised to shatter box office records for Tamil cinema, both in India and across the globe. The film has seen impressive advance booking numbers, pointing to a potentially historic first-day haul.
Key Highlights
– GOAT is geared up for a massive opening day in both domestic and international markets.
– The film is expected to break Thalapathy Vijay’s personal box office records.
– GOAT could become a milestone moment for Tamil cinema in 2024.
Vijay’s much-anticipated film GOAT has finally hit theaters, riding on tremendous global excitement. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the Tamil film is expected to post an extraordinary opening at the box office, with predictions indicating it could set new records. The film’s advance bookings alone have created a massive buzz, positioning it to reach new heights for Tamil cinema this year.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film’s first-day box office performance is unlikely to be affected. According to trade reports from Sacnilk, GOAT has already raked in an impressive Rs 62 crore gross worldwide through advance sales, with Rs 30 crore gross (including blocked seats) coming from India alone.
Analysts are forecasting a global first-day gross of over Rs 100 crore, with domestic earnings expected to fall in the Rs 30-40 crore nett range. Remarkably, GOAT has sold around 12.37 lakh tickets for its opening day in India, an exceptional figure for any release. This makes it the second consecutive Vijay-starrer to potentially open with over Rs 100 crore gross worldwide. Previously, Leo set a new standard with Rs 142 crore globally on its first day.
GOAT, which also stars Yogi Babu, Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Prashanth, is expected to make box office history for Vijay. While its performance in Tamil Nadu is expected to be strong, early trends suggest the film’s Telugu version is also garnering incredible business in advance sales.
The film is on track to surpass the Rs 100 crore nett mark domestically by the end of its first weekend. If positive word-of-mouth continues to spread, GOAT could maintain its momentum well into the weekdays.
