Renowned television producer Ekta Kapoor recently expressed her ire via Instagram Stories, condemning the dissemination of skewed narratives regarding her productions. Though she refrained from explicitly naming any individuals, her post was unmistakably aimed at “unprofessional actors” who, she claims, propagate distorted accounts. Kapoor urged such individuals to exercise discretion and refrain from tarnishing reputations.
“Unprofessional actors providing unsolicited interviews about my shows must cease! Falsehoods and biased tales only persist until I choose to address them… but there is an inherent dignity in silence,” Kapoor penned, exuding a tone of unyielding defiance.
This development closely follows an interview in which actor Ram Kapoor reminisced about his time on Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, the iconic television series helmed by Ekta Kapoor. Ram delved into the controversy surrounding his on-screen kiss with Sakshi Tanwar, recounting the fierce backlash it provoked among viewers. Despite his initial hesitations, he shared how Ekta’s unwavering conviction drove the decision to include the bold scene.
Ram Kapoor’s Reflections on the Landmark Scene
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ram candidly recounted, “As an actor, I must adhere to the script. It isn’t my prerogative to question or refuse. If I were to do so, I’d be failing in my role as a performer. So, I acted as required, believing I did nothing amiss.”
Ram disclosed that he had openly shared his reservations with Ekta, emphasizing the unprecedented nature of such a scene in Indian television. He stated, “I asked Ekta, ‘Are you certain? This hasn’t been done on TV before—three generations often watch together.’ But Ekta was resolute, insisting it was integral. After that, I consulted my wife before proceeding, saying to Sakshi that I would intervene if she felt uncomfortable.”
Bade Achhe Lagte Hain: The Legacy This was, indeed, the show that defined the cultural touchstone through the year 2011. Its most important aspect was the chemistry between Ram and Priya, played by Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. Their portrayals widely caught people’s attention, helping the show become a huge success.
The show was later back with the second season where Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar took up roles as leads in the shoes of the original protagonists. While the new season brought fresh narratives, the original pairing remains a nostalgic hallmark for its fans.
Ekta Kapoor’s current statements highlight her adamancy against manipulation and her relentless pursuit of creative legacy protection. This incident starkly resounds amidst the complexities and pressure surrounding public storytelling.
