
A drunk TV director ran his car over people: one dead and 6 injured, an angry mob beat up the director and his female friend
A Bengali film director has run over people walking with his car in Kolkata’s Thakurpur market. One person died in this incident, and 6 people were seriously injured. Police have arrested the accused film director Siddhant Das alias Victo.
However, before the police could arrest him, the angry mob beat up Siddhant and Bengali channel executive producer Shriya Basu, who was present in the car with him. Police rescued both of them safely from the mob.
The deceased has been identified as Aminur Rahman. Apart from sweeping the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, he was also involved in politics. He was also known as a CPIM leader. At the same time, two of the injured have been admitted to CMRI Hospital and 4 to Kasturi Nursing Home. All the injured are seriously injured.
According to reports, director and producer Shriya Basu were celebrating the success of their daily soap. Both of them partied till midnight at South City Mall in Kolkata. Then both of them started roaming around the city in a drunken state. At 9:30 in the morning, drunk Siddhant ran his car over pedestrians on Diamond Harbor Road.
Police say that both of them were so drunk that they were not even able to stand properly. Shriya’s condition was so bad due to intoxication that when the police were making her sit in the car, she fell on the road. Police have taken the vehicle and the accused director into custody. Also, four bottles of alcohol were recovered from the car. The accused director will be produced in court on Tuesday.
