Chirag Paswan’s political journey can be described as scary. After a landslide victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the LJP leader (Ram Vilas) is now the third most important ally for the BJP in the NDA lineup after TDP and JD(U).
Self-described “Modi Hanuman” Chirag Paswan was appointed as the head of the food ministry on June 10, a day after LJP leader (Ram Vilas) was sworn in as a minister in the Modi 3.0 government. Kiren Rijiju was given an additional post by the ministry in the Modi 2.0 government.
Chirag Paswan’s political journey can be described as a windbreaker. After a landslide victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the LJP leader (Ram Vilas) is now the third most important ally for the BJP in the NDA lineup after TDP and JD(U).
The LJP (Ram Vilas) won a 100% hit percentage in all five seats – Hajipur, Samastipur, Vaishali, Jamui, and Khagaria – securing its leader who was sworn in as the Modi 3.0 government on June 9.
This spectacular success made him the new Dalit icon in the politics of Bihar, overshadowing many seasoned politicians. Paswan Junior consolidated his leadership position when he was elected as the leader of the LJP (RV) parliamentary party at a meeting held in Delhi on June 7.
The 2024 Lok Sabha election was the first poll the young Dalit leader contested after his father’s death. 2020 and following the split of his Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) into two factions: the National Lok Janshakti Party led by Pashupati Kumar Paras (Ram Vilas Paswan’s brother) and the LJP (Ram Vilas) led by Chirag Paswan.
‘Modi Hanuman’, as he described himself in an interview with India Today, the young Dalit icon said he would fulfill his duties with full honesty and hard work after taking oath as a Union minister in Prime Minister Modi’s government. Paswan thanked the Prime Minister for his confidence.
“This is a huge responsibility for me… I will ensure that I fulfill this responsibility with full honesty and hard work… Kudos to the Prime Minister for this. He had so much faith in a one-member party and gave it 5 seats…I also gave them all 5 seats by defeating them,” Pawan told ANI.
