Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has defended Udit Narayan on the kissing controversy. He said that such incidents happen with singers. Udit Narayan is a superstar singer. Girls were after him.
In an interview with News 18, Abhijeet said, ‘Such incidents always happen with us singers. If we are not properly protected or we are not surrounded by bouncers, people even tear our clothes. This has happened to me before as well.
I was once doing a concert in South Africa. 3-4 girls kissed me so dangerously that I was not able to go on stage again. All this happened in front of Lata ji. There were lipstick marks on my cheeks.’
Abhijeet said- he did not call anyone close to him
Abhijeet further said, ‘He is Udit Narayan. Girls were after him. He did not call anyone close to him. I am sure that when Udit performs, his wife is with him as a co-signer. Let him enjoy the success. He is a romantic singer. He is also a big player and I am a novice. Don’t try to play with him.’
What was the whole matter?
On January 31, Udit Narayan performed in a concert. A video related to this concert came out, in which it was seen that a girl came close to the stage to take a selfie with him. When she was taking a selfie with Udit Narayan, she kissed the singer on the cheek. In response, the singer kissed her on the lips.
Udit had said – this is the madness of fans, one should ignore it
After some time, Udit also clarified on this video. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, he said, ‘Fans are so crazy. We are not like this. We are decent people. What is the point of making this thing viral? There were a lot of people in the crowd and we also had bodyguards. But fans feel that they should get a chance to meet us somehow. So in such a situation, some people extend their hands to shake hands, and some kiss the hand. All this is madness, one should not pay much attention to it.’
He further said, ‘When I sing on stage, there is a madness there. Fans love me, I also feel that let them be happy. I’ve been in the industry for 46 years. My image has not been like this. When fans shower love on me, I fold my hands. I bow down on the stage thinking whether this moment of today will come back or not.’
