Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Champions Trophy, played in early 2025, and India made it clear that Team India would not travel there to play its matches. Following this, Naqvi tried hard to prevent the tournament matches from being shifted to Dubai, but ultimately had to bow to the ICC and BCCI.
Team India not only played its matches in the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai stadium but also won the trophy. This tournament also featured a match between India and Pakistan, which Team India won by 6 wickets.

Bangladesh boycott row in T20 World Cup
In the ICC T20 World Cup, being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the ICC decided to expel Bangladesh from the tournament after Bangladesh decided not to send itsteam to India. The PCB reacted to this ICC decision with a resemblance to Abdullah going crazy at someone else’s wedding.
Pakistan, which has to play all its matches in Sri Lanka, began a boycott campaign against India on February 15th, a move that even the Pakistani government joined in. The Pakistani Prime Minister ordered his team to boycott the match against India.
This move by the PCB was certain that they would make a U-turn on their decision as the match date approached. When the ICC informed them of the fines and various sanctions, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi immediately ordered his team to play the match against India.
However, this did not significantly benefit them, as the Indian team once again defeated Pakistan resoundingly, winning the match by 61 runs.
