New Delhi. The king of singing, Arijit Singh, has surprised fans. On January 27, 2026, he announced his retirement from playback singing by sharing posts on his private X account and Instagram. Now, news has emerged that he is embarking on a new journey. According to media reports, Arijit is now preparing to enter the world of film production and direction.

Arijit Singh shared a post on Tuesday evening. In the post, he wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to all. Thank you for the love of all the listeners over the years.” “I am happy to announce that I will no longer be taking on any new assignments as a playback vocalist; I am ending this journey. It’s been a wonderful journey.” Arijit clarified that he will not stop making music, but will instead complete pending commitments and have some releases in 2026.

This is not a goodbye for Arijit, but the beginning of a new chapter. Arijit Singh is now entering the world of filmmaking. The report cites sources as saying that Arijit’s debut Hindi film will be a jungle adventure film, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s daughter Shora and Arijit’s son in the lead roles.

Arijit Singh and his wife Koyal Singh are co-producing the film with Mahavir Jain. Interestingly, the film’s script has also been co-written by Arijit and Koel.
The film is currently being shot in Shantiniketan. According to reports, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will make a special appearance in the film, while veteran actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya is also part of the cast. Sources indicate that the film will be screened at several film festivals before its pan-India release.
This is not the first time Arijit Singh has taken up the directorial reins. He previously directed the Bengali film “Sa,” released in 2018, which was based on the musical journey of a young boy.

Arijit’s decision stems from his creative restlessness. He is a perfectionist and wants to explore new horizons. Reports already surfaced in 2025 that he was working on a jungle adventure film with Mahavir Jain. Fans and the industry are excited to see what wonders Arijit’s creativity will now unleash in cinema. His voice gave Bollywood game-changer songs like ‘Tum Hi Ho’, ‘Kesariya’, ‘Bin Te Dil’, now something special is expected in direction too.
