Delhi Fog: The fog also affected rail services.
Trains on many routes were delayed, leading to increased passenger congestion and wait times at the capital’s railway stations.
On Wednesday, the last day of 2025, the capital Delhi was engulfed in dense fog. Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport were severely affected due to the dense fog, with over 300 flights affected since morning due to extremely low visibility. According to available information, 148 flights were cancelled, including 78 arrivals and 70 departures, while nearly 200 flights were delayed and two flights were diverted.
Airlines Issue Travel Advisory
Several airlines, including IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet, have issued travel advisories for passengers. They have urged passengers to check the latest flight status before departing. Delhi’s IGI Airport stated that flights are being operated under CAT III protocols due to dense fog, which could lead to delays or cancellations.
The airport stated, “Our ground teams are on site and assisting passengers. For the latest information, passengers should contact their respective airlines. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Rail services also affected, passengers at stations disrupted
The fog also affected rail services. Trains on many routes were delayed, leading to increased congestion and waiting at railway stations across the capital. Poor visibility slowed trains.
Delhi’s air quality also very poor
Despite the fog, Delhi’s air quality also showed no improvement. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)’s Sameer app, Delhi’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 383 at 6:05 am on Wednesday, falling in the “very poor” category and approaching the “severe” level.
Passengers are advised to remain vigilant. Authorities and airlines have urged travelers to check flight and train status before leaving home and to plan their travels with extra time to avoid inconvenience caused by fog.
