Virat Kohli entered the tournament after nearly 15 years and continued his batting style that made him one of the greatest batsmen in ODI cricket.
After scoring a century in the first match, Kohli followed it up with a blistering inning in the second.
Team India’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli, who returned to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after nearly 15 years, has made a spectacular comeback in this tournament.
Playing for his Delhi team, Virat made a memorable comeback with a blazing century in the first match. But that wasn’t enough, and once again, the batsman displayed a blistering batting performance, scoring a quickfire half-century. Playing in his second match of the tournament, Kohli smashed a half-century in just 29 balls, demonstrating his current form in this format.
Playing their second Vijay Hazare Trophy match at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, Delhi faced Gujarat on Friday, December 26th. While Delhi had to chase the target in the second innings in the previous match, this time they had to bat first. Virat Kohli, who had scored a blistering 131 runs off just 101 balls in the previous match, was expected to deliver a big innings, and this powerful Delhi batsman did not disappoint.
Kohli’s half-century in 29 balls
Delhi once again lost its first wicket in the second over, so Virat Kohli didn’t have to wait long to bat. But as soon as he came in, Virat opened his account with a four and then rained boundaries. While Delhi batsman Arpit Rana struggled for every run, Virat was hitting fours. In no time, Kohli reached his half-century in just 29 balls. This was Virat’s 85th half-century in his List A career.
He smashed 50 runs through boundaries.
Interestingly, Kohli, on 49, completed his half-century with a boundary, reaching 53. He had scored 50 of these 53 runs through boundaries. By this point, he had hit 11 fours and one six. Thus, Kohli continued his aggressive style from the previous match and stole the show with his explosive batting. However, Virat failed to reach a century this time, being dismissed after a blistering 77 off 58 balls. He was stumped by left-arm spinner Vishal Jaiswal. However, before being dismissed, Virat continued his explosive batting, hitting 13 fours and one six.
