Why is violence continuing in Bangladesh?
It is noteworthy that violence has continued unabated in Bangladesh for the past few days. Reports of mob protests and related violence have been reported from Dhaka to Chittagong. On December 12th, Osman Hadi, a student leader of the Inquilab Manch, was shot. Hadi passed away in Singapore on December 18th, and since then, tension has persisted in Bangladesh. Immediately afterward, the lynching of a Hindu man in Chittagong shocked the world.
Now, a leader of Bangladesh’s new political party, the National Citizens Party (NCP), has also been attacked. On Monday, NCP leader Mohammad Mutalib Sikder was shot in Khulna. Sikder suffered a head injury in the attack. He is reportedly hospitalized in critical condition.
