The Family Man 3 Review: Jaideep overpowers 'Srikant', a more dangerous mission than before; is the third season worth watching?

The Family Man Season 3 Series Review: The third season of Manoj Bajpayee’s most-awaited web series, The Family Man, has been released today.

Jaideep Ahlawat returns as the villain in The Family Man season 3. Let us tell you whether Shrikant Tiwari’s mission is successful this time.

Smita Srivastava, Mumbai. In one scene, Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) says, “This time it’s personal.” This makes it clear that this time the mission will be related to personal life. The third season of The Family Man, centered on Shrikant Tiwari and his clownish colleague JK (Sharib Hashmi), juggling between national security and family responsibilities, is set in the Northeast. Along with the Northeast, the story also travels to London, Islamabad, Myanmar, Delhi, and Mumbai.

The mission of the family man, Srikant, is established in the first episode. The story begins with a bomb blast at a cultural festival in Kohima, Nagaland. This is followed by bombings in six major cities in the Northeast, killing hundreds of people. The heat of this incident reaches Delhi. The government has persuaded all insurgent groups to come together at one table.

Prime Minister Basu (Seema Biswas) wants to implement the Sahakar Project for peace and development in the Northeast. This project is also a classified mission designed to counter China’s Project Guan Yu, which has led to the emergence of several Phoenix villages along the India-Myanmar border. Basu has put the Defense Department’s arms deal on the back foot.

To unite the scattered rebel groups, Kulkarni (Dalip Tahil) and Shrikant (Manoj Bajpayee) meet local leader David Khujo in Kohima, who has helped unite the rebel groups. However, during the trip, local drug dealer Rukma (Jaideep Ahlawat) kills both Kulkarni and David. Despite being seriously injured, Shrikant survives the attack.

Rukma orchestrates this attack at the behest of Meera (Nimrat Kaur), a London-based fixer with connections to several global agencies. She wants to create instability in the area to expedite a major arms deal for billionaire Dwarkanath (Jugal Hansraj). Shrikant is devastated by the killing of his mentor Kulkarni before his eyes.

Returning to Mumbai, things worsen for Shrikant when suspicion falls on him for Kulkarni’s death. He flees with his family. A new TASC officer, Yatish Chawla (Harman Singha), sets out to find her. How will Srikant prove his innocence? Will he succeed in his mission to capture Rukma? The story revolves around this.

Raj & DK’s Third Season

Creator-director duo Raj and DK, adept at crafting engaging and entertaining stories, have a keen grasp of the geopolitical climate in which they set their stories. This time, they tackle the issues of the Northeast, including the threat from foreign forces, including the ban on Chinese apps. Much of the series has been shot in the Northeast. Raj and DK have left no stone unturned to portray the Northeast believably, incorporating local artists and local music.

Where did The Family Man Season 3 go astray?

Socio-political challenges, cultural nuances, and even the beautiful scenery are depicted with great detail. Each episode in Season 3 is approximately 55 minutes long. The opening episodes inspire hope, the middle episodes meander, and the final episodes move so quickly that the climax feels rushed and frustratingly stilted.

Season 3 Leaves Many Questions

PM Basu’s character seems to be the weakest. His decisions are influenced more by ego or the advice of others. This is disturbing. Similarly, Suchi’s lack of surprise when she learns that Shrikant is in Intelligence is unimaginable. Rukma’s love story also feels incomplete. Many questions about the series remain unanswered. Hopefully, they will be answered in the fourth season.

Manoj Bajpayee once again impresses in his role.

Nonetheless, Shrikant’s carefree humor, combined with action and emotion, has always been a major reason for The Family Man’s popularity. This continues in Season 3. JK and Shrikant’s friendly banter brings much-needed balance to the show’s heavier, darker moments. Especially the train scene between Srikant and JK, when Srikant and the TT have a conversation.

Manoj Bajpayee returns as Srikant Tiwari. This time, his family is aware of his detective profession, but family tensions persist. There’s no doubt that Manoj remains the lifeblood of the show. He makes every frame stellar with his acting.
