Son of Sardaar 2 Review: Son of Sardaar 2 has been officially in theaters now. In this film, Mrinal Thakur and Ravi Kishan also appear in important roles alongside Ajay Devgan. Are you thinking of watching this film? Then definitely read this review.
Son of Sardaar 2 Review: 13 years ago, i.e., in 2012, when ‘Son of Sardaar ‘ made the audience laugh, it was a time when such films were made very rarely. It was a clean comedy film, which made the audience roll with laughter. Now, after years, Ajay Devgan has returned once again with the character of Jassi. Will ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ be able to repeat the same magic? Will this film make you forget the sorrows of your everyday life and just laugh? If you are looking for answers to these questions, let’s take a closer look at this film by Ajay Devgan, Mrinal Thakur, and Vijay Kumar Arora.
Storyline of the movie
The story begins with Jassi (Ajay Devgan) being married. However, Neeru Bajwa, his wife, wants to get a divorce from him. After his wife’s betrayal, Jassi, who is wandering here and there in London, meets Pakistani Rabia (Mrinal Thakur). Rabia lives in London with her daughter and family. The Sandhu family’s kid captures the heart of Rabia’s daughter. The patriotic Sandhu family hates Pakistani people. In such a situation, to help Rabia, Jassi pretends to be the Sardar father of her Pakistani daughter. Now to know what happens next, you will have to go to the theaters and watch ‘Son of Sardaar 2’.
How is the movie
By the way, this movie is very funny. But after watching it, you will remember Punjabi cinema, and it is natural. It is treated similarly to Punjabi films by director Vijay Kumar Arora. This movie is a wonderful choice if you’re a typical viewer who wants to laugh and forget about everything else. There are many places of laughter where you will laugh, holding your stomach, while on some occasions, you will also cheer with joy.
You won’t enjoy this movie, though, if you’re the type of person who watches every movie and evaluates it. There are numerous instances where the jokes are so awful that you laugh while asking yourself, “What is this?” If you do not like PJ, then at many places, some jokes may seem so bad to you that you will shake your head. However, you do not get bored anywhere in the whole film.
Direction
This is the first Hindi film that Vijay Kumar Arora has directed. He has also received a National Award for his Punjabi film ‘Harjeeta’. But ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is completely different from ‘Harjeeta’. While watching ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, a glimpse of Punjabi comedy films is visible in both the script and direction. While on one hand Hindi cinema is moving forward with films like ‘Raid’, ‘Drishyam’, ‘Metro These Days’, this film presents old and conservative thinking for its comedy. Showing a father who has married four times as cool, or making infidelity (cheating) a part of the joke, seems very odd. The audience is now bored with such comedy. When excellent and smart comedy films are now coming on OTT and in theaters, this kind of film is a bit disappointing.
In this case, the script of ‘Son of Sardaar’ was more powerful. The characters in that movie were more diligently developed. In this film, Jassi has been shown as more naive than necessary at some places, which does not suit a strong actor like Ajay Devgan at all. We had more expectations from ‘Daddu’, who did a great job on camera.
Acting
Even though the direction has disappointed a bit, Ajay Devgan has carried the entire film on his shoulders. His comic timing and brilliant acting make you laugh. He brings life to the film. Mrunal Thakur has also surprised. For the first time, she has been shown in a bold and outspoken character, which is fun to watch. Her acting is also good, and she brings a freshness to the film. Ravi Kishan is brilliant as always and wins the hearts of the audience with his acting.
On the other hand, the pair of Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh is amazing. Their comedy and timing are so amazing that you keep laughing after seeing these two together. This pair makes you laugh, but the eyes become moist thinking that we will not be able to see a brilliant artist like Mukul Dev on screen anymore.
What to watch or not to watch?
If you are a common man who just wants to laugh by taking a few moments off from his everyday life, then this film is for you. You don’t need to use your brain, just go and laugh. This is a no-brainer comedy where the actors’ brilliant acting and some great jokes will make your day. However, if you are looking for a comedy film that conveys a message along with fresh thinking, a well-written script, and strong direction, then this film may not be for you. Some scenes and jokes in it may disappoint you.
Overall, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is for those who just want to laugh for two hours, even if they have to leave their brain at home. If you don’t feel all this while watching such a film, then it can be a good weekend watch. Otherwise, if you have moved on from this kind of comedy, then it is better to stay away from this film.
