Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’ was a blockbuster. But when the film was released, it was criticized a lot due to the theme. Recently, Sandeep admitted that negative reviews can seriously affect the performance of a film. Also, he targeted the former IAS and founder of Drishti IAS Coaching, Vikas Divyakirti, for criticizing the film.
Did not have any effect due to the love of the audience
Sandeep said in Komal Nahta’s show ‘Game Changer’ that my film received negative reviews to a large extent. But due to the tremendous love received from the general audience, such reactions did not affect ‘Animal’. The film progressed so fast that the reviews could not affect it. People came out and said that the film was fantastic. The mouth publicity of my movie was tremendous. It spread like wildfire.
People made 2-hour videos to criticize
Sandeep said, ‘There were people who made two-hour videos criticizing Animal. There are also videos where 4-10 people are sitting together and criticizing the film. A person was driving his car and reviewing the film, and this video was one hour and thirty minutes long. There are many social issues, and no one talks about them. Everyone wants to discuss only films. I think it is easy to target the filmmaker.’
It felt like a crime had been committed
During the chat, Sandeep targeted Vikas Divyakirti without naming him and said, ‘An IAS officer had publicly condemned ‘Animal. As if making a film was a criminal act. That officer said in the interview that films like ‘Animal’ should not be made. It felt as if I had committed a crime by making that film.’
If someone attacks you without any reason, you will get angry. He was an IAS officer who must have studied hard and reached this position. However, if you go to Delhi, join any institute, and give 2-3 years of your life, you can crack IAS. But I can give you in writing that there is no such study or teacher that can make you a filmmaker or a writer.
