Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal recently revealed the secret behind his incredible ability to hit sixes effortlessly. According to Jaiswal, his experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has played a big role in improving his aggressive stroke play.
Jaiswal has made history by smashing the most sixes in a bilateral Test series. In India’s 2024 Test series against England, he hit 26 sixes in just nine innings across five Test matches, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s previous record of 19 sixes against South Africa in 2019.
In 2024, Jaiswal also set a new record for most sixes in a calendar year, hitting 36 sixes and breaking the previous record of 33 set by Brendon McCullum.
When asked about his success, the 23-year-old credited Rajasthan Royals (RR) for helping him develop his game. “The IPL has helped me improve my game. I must thank Zubin Bharucha sir, who has been such an inspiration, and Rajasthan Royals for gifting me with the right kind of environment where I can train and improve,” Jaiswal said in an interview with *Forbes India*. “It’s the result of countless efforts from many people and my dedication to practicing day and night.”
Apart from this success in Test and T20I cricket, Jaiswal also looks for a bright future in ODIs. He exclaimed at the prospects of his possible ODI debut saying, “I’m excited. I hope to be a regular part of the ODI team. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity, and I’m ready to grab it with both hands.”
Jaiswal has been selected in India’s ODI squad for the tour of England and also in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Fans are awaiting his first match in the ODI for the England tour.
