The indefinite shelving of Aashiqui 3 has left cinephiles disheartened, with Kartik Aaryan reportedly pivoting to alternative projects.
This much-awaited third installment, once poised to elevate the legacy of the Aashiqui series, encountered unforeseen hurdles, primarily due to disputes surrounding its title.
Initially announced over two years ago with acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Basu at the helm, the project promised a magnetic collaboration between Aaryan and Triptii Dimri. However, recent developments reveal that Dimri has exited the venture, and Basu is now diverting his creative energies toward a fresh romantic narrative unconnected to the Aashiqui lineage.
Insiders divulged that Kartik Aaryan endeavored to bridge the rift between stakeholders, aiming to salvage the ambitious film under its original banner. Despite his conciliatory efforts, progress proved elusive, compelling all involved to chart new courses. Dimri’s departure reportedly stemmed from creative and logistical disagreements, while Basu’s forthcoming project is anticipated to embody an entirely distinct love story.
Why Did Triptii Dimri Exit Aashiqui 3?
A report in Mid-Day suggests Dimri’s departure coincided with mounting title-related disputes that stymied the film’s development. Last November, sources close to the production hinted at Aaryan’s determination to rejuvenate the franchise under its established moniker. Yet, these aspirations have since dissipated, and the project now languishes in limbo.
A source remarked, “Triptii was thrilled at the prospect of leading the romantic narrative, but circumstances have rendered this impossible. The disagreements over the title escalated to a point where postponement became inevitable. Kartik, Triptii, and Basu were enthusiastic about collaborating, and they have now aligned on an alternative love story, which will commence shooting in Mumbai by February’s outset.”
T-Series’ Stance on Aashiqui 3
In March 2024, T-Series issued a categorical statement refuting their involvement in any ongoing production of Aashiqui 3. They emphasized that any future endeavors tied to the franchise would be co-produced alongside Vishesh Films and Mukesh Bhatt.
Their statement read:
“T-Series wishes to clarify that we are not currently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3. If and when this project materializes, it will be executed in collaboration with Vishesh Films/Mukesh Bhatt, as joint custodians of the franchise. We unequivocally dismiss speculative reports suggesting Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title. The proposed film directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor affiliated with the franchise.
We stay committed to excellence in cinematic offerings. We appreciate fans for continued love and would like to unveil future works with great collaboration with partners we value.
Aashiqui 3 storyline, which is going haywire. As of now, the Aashiqui 3 project’s revival seems unsure, but this only means the creativity of its producers is bound to give the viewers the same emotions with their upcoming works.
