The British rock band Coldplay is coming to India in January 2025. Ticket bookings for their concert began on 22 September, and all shows were sold out within minutes.

With a massive traffic surge of 24 lakh users on the Book My Show app, the platform crashed during the booking process. Even several well-known celebrities found themselves stuck in the waiting queue and couldn’t secure tickets. Filmmaker Karan Johar shared on social media that, despite being a privileged person, he missed out on booking tickets.

 

Karan humorously wrote on social media, “Dear Privileged, I liked how Coldplay and The Mini Cali (a fashion brand) always keep you grounded. Darling, you can’t always get what you want. Lots of love.”

Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres’ Tour in India

Coldplay is coming to India as part of their Music of the Spheres world tour and will be performing at Mumbai’s D.Y. Patil Stadium on 18, 19, and 21 January. Initially, the concert was scheduled for only two days, but after witnessing the huge fan craze, Coldplay extended their stay and added a third performance.

On Sunday at 12 noon, bookings for the concert opened on the Book My Show app. However, due to a massive influx of lakhs of users, the app crashed. To manage the situation, a queue system was introduced, and users were placed in a virtual waiting room. The waiting list itself reached lakhs of people.

Reselling Tickets for as High as ₹10 Lakh

Coldplay’s concert tickets in India were originally priced between ₹2,500 and ₹35,000. However, due to overwhelming demand, resellers are now selling these tickets for as much as ₹10 lakh. According to a report by Mint, lounge tickets priced at ₹3,500 are now being resold on other websites for ₹10 lakh.
