Suraj Revanna, a JDS MLC, was granted conditional release by a Bengaluru court on Monday, July 23, regarding his sexual abuse case. Suraj was also asked to furnish a surety of two people and a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh.
The court said in its condition that Suraj would have to fully cooperate in the investigation. He will have to come whenever the investigating officer calls him. He will have to present his passport in court and can only go out of Karnataka with written permission from the court.
Suraj will have to avoid contact with the case’s witnesses and victims.He will not contact them in any way. The investigating officer will see him on the second Sunday of each month. He will have to mark his presence between 9 am and 5 pm for 6 months or till the charge sheet is filed (whichever is earlier). Also, he will have to avoid any other crime.
Suraj’s father was arrested for allegedly kidnapping the victim of Prajwal Revanna’s sexual abuse case. Currently, he is on bail. Whereas, Suraj’s mother Bhavani Revanna is on anticipatory bail in the same case.
This is the whole case
Suraj Revanna was arrested by Hassan police on June 23. A party worker had filed a sexual harassment case against Suraj on June 22. Police had filed a case against Suraj under sections 377, 342, and 506 of IPC (now BNS).
The victim alleged that on June 16, Suraj Revanna had called me to the farmhouse in Gannikada. I arrived at the farmhouse at approximately 6:15 p.m. There, Suraj had done dirty things with me. He had unnatural sex with me by threatening to kill me when I tried to stop him.
On June 25, a party worker who is said to be Suraj’s right hand also filed a case of unnatural sex against Suraj in Holenarasipura police station of Hassan district. Earlier, this youth had defended Suraj.
Suraj’s brother Prajwal in judicial custody, 3 rape cases
Prajwal Revanna, accused of raping party workers and maids, was arrested at Bengaluru airport on May 31. Currently, Prajwal is in judicial custody. Three FIRs have been registered against Prajwal on charges of rape, molestation, blackmailing and threatening.
The court first sent him to SIT custody till June 6. On June 6, his police custody was extended till June 10. Then on June 10, the Special Court of Bengaluru sent him to judicial custody till June 24. His judicial custody was then prolonged till July 8. Prajwal’s father HD Revanna was also arrested in the same case. He is currently on interim bail.
