Mumbai police have arrested a man who allegedly raped and assaulted a 26-year-old aspiring Bollywood actress. The accused lured the woman on the pretext of getting a job on The Kapil Sharma Show.
According to the authorities, a 26-year-old woman was raped in Mumbai under the pretext of getting a job on the popular talk show – The Kapil Sharma Show. The accused, Anand Singh, was arrested by the Mumbai police after she filed a complaint.
According to the police, the accused and the woman met online a few days ago. Anand tricked her by claiming that he had connections with dignitaries in the television industry and that he could get her a job on The Kapil Sharma Show.
The woman was moved by Anand’s words and he told her that he had to pass an exam to work in the show. He also said that if the audition goes well, he will take her to the acting director
The woman went to Anand’s house in the Nalasopara area of the Palghar district for the audition. The accused allegedly raped the woman under the pretext of interrogation.
When she resisted, he physically assaulted her and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone, police said.
After the incident, the woman approached the police and an FIR was registered under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
After lodging an FIR, the police arrested the accused and produced him before a local court, where he was remanded for further investigation.
