Inflicting complete carnage, Rajat Patidar crushes Mayank Markande and clobbers four straight sixes against the SRH spinner.

On Thursday, Rajat Patidar crushed Mayank Markande, hitting the SRH spinner for four straight sixes.

The Indian Premier League career of Rajat Patidar has been quite an experience! After being acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021, he was released before of the 2022 auction after only scoring 71 runs in four IPL matches. He wasn’t sold at the auction, but the RCB signed him for ₹20 lakhs in the middle of the season to take the place of the injured Luvnith Sisodia.

He hit a game-winning knock of 112* off 54 balls in the Eliminator match of the 2022 Indian Premier League, setting a new record for most runs scored in an elimination match. He tied Wriddhiman Saha’s record, having struck a 49-ball century for PBKS in the IPL 2014 finals, and became the first uncapped player to achieve a century in the IPL playoffs. It was also the joint-fastest century (49 balls) by a player in the playoff round.

The 30-year-old scored a half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, demonstrating his return to form. As RCB reached 206/7 in 20 overs, Patidar hammered 50 runs off 20 balls, complete with two fours and five sixes.

In the eleventh over, he hit four consecutive sixes against spinner Mayank Markande, demonstrating the full extent of his shot-selection skills. After receiving an overly high-pitched tossed-up full delivery, Patidar hit Markande for an 86-meter six before hitting another maximum. After making it three out of three, he clobbered him over deep midwicket and then hit another six over deep extra cover.

Patidar has scored 211 runs in nine matches this season, ranking him as the fourth-highest run scorer for the RCB. With 430 runs, Virat Kohli leads the Orange Cap and is the greatest run scorer for the Royal Challenge Bengals. In the meantime, the third position goes to Dinesh Karthik (262), followed by Faf du Plessis (264). As RCB looks to turn around their failing IPL 2024 campaign, Patidar will be seeking to add more runs to his total.
